The task and its limits
A shorter handout is useful only if it keeps the instructions learners need. Practise separating a faithful summary from an unsupported claim. This small source-checking exercise is a first step toward reviewing longer documents, not a test of long-document processing.
Practice goal: Produce four short bullets and a source map that preserve an eligibility condition, a deadline and an exception.
Use only the invented information below. Do not paste learner records, disability details, immigration information, assessment results or private correspondence. Changing a name does not establish permission to upload a real record.
Read the complete fictional source
- [S1] Fictional Oak Room digital-skills workshop: the Tuesday class runs from 18:00 to 19:30 in Room 4.
- [S2] All registered workshop learners may borrow a laptop for use in the classroom. Laptops cannot be taken home.
- [S3] A learner who wants a printed handout must ask the desk by Monday at 12:00. Digital handouts remain available to all registered learners.
- [S4] Learners may work individually or with a partner. Partner work is optional.
- [S5] The optional practice task does not affect course completion. Completion requires attending three of the four sessions.
- [S6] No childcare, translation service or home internet support is described in this handout.
You can complete this on paper. No external account, upload or purchase is needed.
Try it, then inspect an authored error example
Draft your answer first. Optional: use only the following fictional prompt in a tool your organization permits. Do not connect accounts, upload other files or send messages for this task.
Using only S1–S6 below, write exactly four short learner-facing bullets: class time/place; laptop use; handout request; participation/completion. Include the optional partner/practice distinctions. Then map each bullet to its source IDs and list missing support information separately. Do not infer services or simplify away conditions.
Complete fictional facts:

Authored flawed sample, not an actual provider response:
Class starts at 18:00 in Room 4. Take a laptop home after class. Printed handouts are available whenever you ask. Everyone must work with a partner and finish the practice task to complete the course.
Check the source and revise
-
S1 supplies an end time of 19:30 as well as the start and room. Keep both times in the class bullet.
-
S2 limits laptop borrowing to registered learners and classroom use. The take-home statement contradicts the source.
-
S3 requires printed-handout requests by Monday at 12:00; digital access is a separate option. Do not remove the deadline.
-
S4 makes partner work optional. S5 makes practice optional and sets completion at three of four sessions. These are different requirements.
-
S6 lists information that is absent. Missing information is not proof that a service exists or does not exist. Ask the organizer rather than filling the gap.
One supported correction:
- Tuesday class is 18:00–19:30 in Room 4.
- Registered learners may borrow a laptop for classroom use only; it cannot go home.
- Ask the desk by Monday at 12:00 for a printed handout. All registered learners can use digital handouts.
- Partner work and the practice task are optional. Completion requires attendance at three of four sessions.
Source map: bullet 1 → S1; bullet 2 → S2; bullet 3 → S3; bullet 4 → S4 and S5.
Missing information: childcare, translation and home internet support are not described (S6).
Check your answer:
- There are four bullets with a separate source map and missing-information note.
- The time range, room, registered-learner condition and classroom-only limit match S1–S2.
- Monday at 12:00 remains the print-request deadline; digital handouts remain a distinct option.
- Optional partner work and practice are not turned into completion requirements; three of four sessions is retained.
- No support service is invented or declared unavailable merely because it is not described.
Different wording can satisfy these checks. Recheck the facts after any rewrite.
Apply the checking habit carefully
For a longer authorized document, first make a list of its sections and crucial conditions. Check that every needed section was actually read. A summary that agrees with a source can still repeat an error in that source; factual verification against an appropriate original authority is a separate task.
Sources and a next step

Clear wording is a design choice to check with learners, not an automatic accessibility result. For real educational services, check institutional privacy rules and the applicable requirements before sharing information. No learner-outcome study, product benchmark, measured time saving or human professional review is claimed here.

Frequently asked questions
- Does a simpler summary prove that learners understood it?
- No. This task checks fidelity to supplied text. Ask learners for feedback and check understanding separately; no retention improvement or accessibility result was measured here.
- May I replace the invented information with a real learner record?
- No. Use only the supplied fiction in this practice. A different name, a paid account or a polished answer does not establish permission to share a real learner record.
- Do I need an AI subscription to complete the task?
- No. Read the supplied source, write an answer and use the explained feedback. An external tool trial is optional; no provider was run to produce these samples.
- What should I do when important information is missing?
- Label it as not supplied and ask the responsible organizer through an approved route. Do not turn a plausible guess into an instruction, promise or cited fact.
- Does passing these checks prove I can teach with AI?
- No. They check one fictional task. Planning teaching, observing learners and evaluating real learning need separate evidence. The linked free Module 1 requires account sign-in, with no card needed.
